The Emergency First Responder Training Program has been developed by the Indian Emergency Medical Association as per international standards. IEMA is one of India's leading Emergency First Responder (Emergency First Aid, CPR & AED) training and skill development providers.
The Emergency First Responder (EFR) training program is the first and most important link to (rural, urban & Tribal) a good emergency response system for any community. The program aims to develop emergency first responders who are trained in simple, life-saving medical techniques that can be performed with minimal equipment.
This program is an ideal course to teach you the skills to respond immediately to life-threatening situations and injuries, to help the victim, and to assist the victim when emergency services (ambulance) are unavailable or delayed.
This course trains participants in how to activate the emergency response system, Scene Safety & Patient Safety protocols, personal protection (wearing a mask, gloves and goggles), and Train in essential basic care skills such as breathing, giving chest compressions (CPR), AED and administering first aid for medical, trauma and environmental emergencies.
An Emergency First Responder is the first person on the scene to recognize an emergency, activate the EMS system, and provide life-saving emergency first aid with minimal equipment until EMS providers arrive.
Especially members should be passionate about saving lives and interested in participating in emergency first response training courses.
In India, the Factories Act 1948 (Section 45(3)) mandates that workplaces must have trained first aiders, with at least one certified person required for every 150 workers. Mandatory training applies to industrial workers, Drivers (Public Transport-Bus, Ambulance, Lorry, Van, Car, Auto...), teachers, Nursing home (Hospital) staff, public facilities such as schools, shopping malls, multiplex staff, gyms and security personnel to provide immediate care, CPR and injury management before professional help arrives.
Specific roles: People in high-risk occupations, including security guards, factory workers, drivers, and teachers, should have basic life-saving skills.
General public: While not mandatory, it is recommended that all citizens learn emergency first aid, supported by Good Samaritan laws that protect bystanders who assist accident victims.

First responders provide service in environments that require specific skills and knowledge. They also act as liaisons with other emergency services. This course provides an introduction to these concepts. The curriculum includes the skills required for an individual to provide first aid with a limited amount of equipment.
